Profile of the Ape: 

BAPE was established in 1993 by founder Nigo. The brand specializes in men's, women's and children's lifestyle and street wear, running 19 stores in Japan running from Bape stores, to Bape Galleries. Bape also has stores in Hong Kong, New York, London, Taipei, China, Bangkok and Singapore. The name A Bathing Ape came from the 1968 film Planet of the Apes. Nigo the brands founder and owner says, the name "BAPE" is a reference to "A Bathing Ape in Lukewarm Water". Japanese people typically have daily baths in warm water. As such, to bathe in lukewarm water is to pamper. This is an ironic reference to the lazy opulence of the younger generation of Japanese, the brand's own customers.

How does the Ape do it:

The Ape:
Bape's influence in the streetwear industry has increases tremendously. When every product Bape make sells out, the brand most be doing something right. Bape's influence in the hip-hop culture is immense, and has collaborated with more than 10 artist in the industry. Bape was started 23 years ago and this year alone the brand has gotten bigger, and therefor still has more than enough room to still keep growing.
